What Is the Secondary Printer Feature?
The Secondary Printer feature in LumaBooth allows you to route specific print layouts or paper sizes to a second printer. This is ideal for setups where you want different outputs from the same event.
Common use cases include:
Printing 2×6 photo strips on one printer and 4×6 prints on another
Sending a specific branded layout to a dedicated printer
Using different paper sizes or cut settings
Important: This feature is designed to manage different layouts or sizes per printer. It is not intended to automatically print the same photo on two printers at the same time.
Before You Begin
Make sure both printers are connected and properly configured in LumaBooth:
AirPrint printers: Connect directly if the printer supports AirPrint
USB (classic) printers: Use LumaBooth Assistant on a computer and share the printer to your iPad
Ensure your primary printer is fully set up first before adding a secondary printer.
Step-by-Step: Setting Up Your Secondary Printer
1. Open Print Setup
Launch LumaBooth on your iPad
Go to Settings → Print Setup
Confirm that your primary printer is selected and working
2. Add or Select a Secondary Printer
In the Print Setup section under Select print method, press the SECONDARY PRINTER option to configure your secondary printer:
For AirPrint printers: Press the Change printer button to select your printer configuration for the desired paper size
For USB printers: Choose Printer via LumaBooth Assistant, then select the shared printer
Tip: You can even use the same physical printer as both the primary and secondary printer if it supports multiple paper sizes or cut modes.
3. Assign Layouts to a Printer
Once both printers are configured:
Open your Event Settings
Go to Print Layout
Select the layout you want to configure
Tap the Printing button
Enable Print to Secondary Printer if this layout should be sent to the second printer
Layouts without this option enabled will print to the primary printer by default.
How Printing Works
Each print layout can be assigned to one printer only (primary or secondary)
LumaBooth does not duplicate prints across both printers automatically
If you need multiple copies, adjust the print limits to allow the additional quantities
