Step 1
Step 2
If you have a professional dye sub printer that supports cutting, go to LumaBooth Assistant, Print Settings, Configure Printer, Preferences, Advanced, and turn on the 2x6 cutting option for your specific printer. Below are what those settings look like for the DNP DS40. Your printer settings will vary depending on the printer you are using.
Setting Up Multiple Printers Independently
To enable distinct settings for each printer, such as enabling cutting for one and disabling it for another, Windows must treat the printers as separate instances. Follow these steps:
Remove Existing Printers:
Navigate to
Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scannersin Windows.Remove any previously installed DNP printer.
Add Printers as Independent Instances:
Go to
Printers & scannersand click "Add device," then select "The printer that I want isn’t listed."Choose "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings."
Assign the printer to a unique USB port (e.g.,
USB001for the first printer,USB002for the second printer) and install the DNP driver.Repeat the above step for the additional printer.
Distinct Naming for Clarity:
Rename the printers distinctly (e.g., "DNP – Postcards" and "DNP – Strips") for easier identification.
Configure Printer Preferences for Cutting:
Open the "Printing Preferences" for each printer in Windows and:
Enable the 2" cut on the "Strips" printer.
Disable cutting on the "Postcards" printer.
Assign Printers in LumaBooth:
In the LumaBooth Assistant, assign the respective printer to the corresponding layout (e.g., assign "DNP – Strips" to the picture strips layout and "DNP – Postcards" to the postcard layout).
Ensuring Consistency in Cutting for Prints
For consistent cutting behavior across prints, such as 6×4 prints, matching the cutter settings for both printers is crucial. You can adjust settings as follows:
No cuts: Open the Windows "Printing Preferences" for each printer and disable all cut modes.
Consistent cuts: Enable the same cut mode on both printers. This ensures uniform cutting behavior regardless of which printer is used.
Note: When using Mitsubishi printers, select 5x15x2 Type1 to allow for 2 photo strips with cutting.
Understanding LumaBooth's Role in Cutting
LumaBooth does not directly control the printer’s cutting functions. Cutting is managed by the printer’s device or driver interface. In LumaBooth, you configure and select the printer profile or layout you created in the device settings. This means that enabling or disabling cutting happens on the printer side, not within LumaBooth.
Troubleshooting Common Printing Issues
Printers Not Showing Up Separately: Ensure each printer is assigned to a unique USB port and named distinctly during setup.
Cutting Not Working as Expected: Double-check cutting preferences in the Windows "Printing Preferences" for each printer.
Inconsistent Output in LumaBooth: Verify the correct printer is assigned to the appropriate layout in the LumaBooth Assistant.
