Load a 6x8 ribbon in a 6-inch printer like the DNP DS620 and print 6x8s, 6x6 squares, 5x7s, 4x6 pairs, even 6x20 jumbo strips, all from the same roll. Put 8x10 or 8x12 paper in an 8-inch printer like the DNP DS820 and the list grows to 8x10, 8x12 and panoramas up to 8x32. Starting with LumaBooth 5.4.2, USB Direct Printing lets you choose the exact print size for the paper in your printer, instead of having the size guessed from the shape of your template.
The walkthrough is filmed on an iPad with a DNP DS620 loaded with 6x8 paper. Mac follows the same steps.
What you'll need
LumaBooth 5.4.2 or later, on an iPad or a Mac.
USB Direct Printing set up, with your printer plugged in and powered on. If you haven't set it up yet, start with USB Direct Printing for DNP/HiTi. The list of sizes comes from the printer itself, so it only fills in while the printer is connected.
Paper that supports more than one size. A 4x6 roll prints 4x6 (and 3.5x5). A 6x8, 6x9, 8x10 or 8x12 ribbon is where the full range opens up. See Sizes by printer and paper below.
Choose the print size in Print setup
In LumaBooth, go to Settings → Print setup and make sure USB Direct Printing for DNP/Hiti is selected.
Check the status row under it. It shows the printer, the paper it has loaded, and the prints left on the ribbon, for example DS620 · 6x8 · 193 prints.
Tap Print size. The list shows every size the loaded paper can print, with the default at the top and the rest from largest to smallest.
Pick a size. Sizes marked (2-up) or (3-up) put two or three prints on one sheet and the printer cuts them apart.
If the size can be cut, a cut switch appears under it: Cut into 2x6 strips for a 4x6 on DNP and Citizen printers, or Cut in half (two prints) for a 5x7 or 6x9 on HiTi. Leave it off for a plain print. The switch is hidden for sizes that can't be cut.
Your size and cut choice are saved per printer, so a booth with a DS620 and a spare DS-RX1 keeps a setting for each. Swap the ribbon and the list re-reads itself from the new paper.
Match your photo layout to the size
Whatever you pick in Print setup is what comes out of the printer. If your layout is a different shape, LumaBooth scales it to fill the print and trims the overflow, so design the layout at the same size to keep every edge.
The paper size list in the photo layout editor now knows about your printer. Open your layout, tap Printing, then tap the paper size. Standard sizes and every size your connected printer supports are in one list, sorted small to large, with a printer icon next to the ones your printer can print. Pick the same size you chose in Print setup and the template is built at the exact print dimensions, for example 1800 x 6000 pixels for a 6x20.
Two-up sizes fill the sheet
When a size is labelled (2-up), the sheet is always filled. One copy prints two photos, and an odd number of copies rounds up to whole sheets, so you never hand the printer a half-empty page. You can see it coming everywhere it matters:
Print test page shows the count it will produce, for example Print test page (2).
The guest copies screen steps in whole sheets: 2, 4, 6 for a 2-up size.
The print button shows how many prints each press makes.
On a sheet ribbon that fits two 4x6 prints (6x8, 8x10, 8x12), 4x6 (2-up) is the default, so a roll isn't halved unless you choose a bigger size.
Sizes by printer and paper
These are the sizes LumaBooth offers for each printer and the paper loaded in it. Sizes your printer's firmware can't print are hidden from the list, so if one you expect is missing, see Some sizes need newer printer firmware below. Panorama sizes (6x14, 6x20, 8x18 and up) come out as one long continuous print.

Some sizes need newer printer firmware
The printer decides which sizes it can cut and how long a print it can feed, so a few sizes only exist on recent firmware. LumaBooth reads the firmware version from the printer and hides any size below its minimum, which is why a panorama can be on the list for one DS620 and missing on another.

Firmware updates are free from the DNP downloads page. Pick your printer model and download the firmware update utility for Mac or Windows, then follow the README that comes with it. The update runs from a computer over USB, so plan it before the event rather than at the venue. Citizen-branded printers (CX-02, CX-02W, CZ-01) take the matching DNP update.
To see the version you have now, run the printer's own self-test print (it lists the firmware version) or check it in the update utility before you install. Reconnect the printer after updating and LumaBooth re-reads the size list.
Troubleshooting
Only one size in the list?
Either the loaded paper prints a single size (a 4x6 roll on most printers), or the printer isn't connected. Check the status row in Print setup: if it doesn't show your printer's model and paper, work through Printer not found? in USB Direct Printing for DNP/HiTi.
A size you expect is missing?
LumaBooth hides sizes the printer's firmware can't handle, so you never pick one that dead-ends at a firmware message. Panoramas are the usual case. Check the minimums in Some sizes need newer printer firmware above, update from the DNP downloads page, and reconnect the printer.
No cut switch?
The Cut into 2x6 strips switch only appears for a 4x6 on paper that can be strip-cut: 4x6, 6x8 and 6x9 rolls on DNP and Citizen printers, and the 4x6 ribbon on HiTi. The 8-inch printers (DS80, DS820, CX-02W) never strip-cut. For a 5x7 or 6x8 there is no cut to offer.
Prints come out cropped or with white borders?
Make sure the size in Print setup matches the paper size of your photo layout. A layout designed for a different shape is scaled to fill the print, which trims the edges. Pick the same size in both places and the print matches the template edge to edge.
