Sharing Photos and Videos via SMS with dslrBooth

dslrBooth allows your guests to instantly share their photos and videos directly to their mobile phones via SMS (text) message, making it a seamless experience for events. You can select your SMS provider in dslrBooth's sharing settings, with two options available:

Preferred Option: Messaging Plan Subscription (Easiest and Most Convenient)

The simplest and most efficient way to enable SMS sharing is through dslrBooth’s Messaging Plan Subscription. This feature is optional and only required if you wish to send SMS messages to your guests. The subscription covers your entire account, supporting up to 10 booths. If you need to use the service for more than 10 booths, additional approval is required—please reach out to our support team for assistance.

This built-in service lets you send unlimited messages to guests in the US and Canada without the hassle of third-party setups. Here’s why it’s a great choice:

  • Unlimited Messages to US & Canada Guests: Share as many photos and videos as you’d like with no limits.
  • Competitive International Rates: Affordable messaging for guests outside the US and Canada.
  • No Apps Needed for Guests: Guests receive their photos directly via SMS—no downloads or app installations required.
  • Skip Carrier Applications & Send Instantly: No need for lengthy carrier approvals; start sharing right away with dslrBooth’s streamlined service.

How to Set Up the Messaging Plan Subscription

  1. In dslrBooth’s sharing settings, under the "Messaging provider" section, select Messaging Plan Subscription.
  2. Tap on Learn More to subscribe to the Messaging Plan.
  3. Go back to dslrBooth and your subscription should show as active. If it doesn't, click on Recheck subscription.

Why Choose the Messaging Plan Subscription?

The Messaging Plan Subscription is the recommended choice for most users due to its simplicity and powerful features. Unlike the Twilio setup, which involves managing a separate account, obtaining credentials, and navigating carrier approvals, the Messaging Plan Subscription lets you get started instantly. It’s perfect for event professionals who want a hassle-free solution to share booth photos with guests via SMS. Plus, with competitive international rates, it’s a cost-effective option world-wide.

You can manage your subscription at fotoShare Cloud > Subscriptions > SMS subscription . Here, you can check your current billing status, monitor usage, and view remaining messages. You can also download invoices for your records. If you decide you no longer need the subscription, you can cancel your subscription at the same link with ease.

Alternative Option: Twilio (Requires Twilio Credentials)

For those who prefer using their own Twilio account for messaging, dslrBooth supports this option as well. However, it requires more setup compared to the Messaging Plan Subscription. Here’s how to configure it:

  1. Go to twilio.com and click Sign Up to create an account.
  2. Once logged in, click on Dashboard.
  3. On the left-hand side, click the three dots icon, then choose Phone Numbers under Super Network.
  4. Click Get Your First Number to obtain a unique phone number. Select Choose This Number to confirm. This will take you to the Phone Numbers page.
  5. Return to the Console Dashboard by clicking the Home button in the top left corner.
  6. Note down your Account SID and Auth Token, which are listed on the Console Dashboard.
  7. Ensure your SMS number in dslrBooth is registered with Twilio. You can verify this under Programmable SMS > Phone Numbers in Twilio. The purchased number must have SMS capabilities.
  8. You’ll also need to go through an application and approval process with carriers before sending messages.
  9. Finally, click Billing on the left-hand side of Twilio to upgrade to a full account, enabling SMS functionality.
  10. Enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and new Phone number in dslrBooth's SMS settings.

For a more detailed walkthrough, refer to the instructional video below, which outlines how to configure this feature with Twilio.

Is there a way to share a photo to SMS without sharing all of the photos from that session?  That is, we just want to send over the photo that was just taken.

    Hi @Kishore Khan

in order to share individual shots, make sure you have "Print' selected un the general tab of settings. When it's time to share the session, you select the individual photo you want to share and you can print/email/text that one particular photo. I hope that was clear enough to understand. :-)

Jud, you'll need to set your album as Private in fotoShare Cloud. Please see this information about privacy settings.

Why do i need a  twilio account when my ipad already has a mobile sim in that can send sms messages. It makes no sense.

Robert, third party apps such as LumaBooth are not allowed by iOS to directly send SMS messages using the mobile SIM card which is why we have to use a third party service to send the messages.

Do you support other platforms like ClickSend? SMS from Twillo doesn't work in New Zealand sadly
