Printing to Secondary Printer [windows only]

With dslrBooth for Windows you can set dslrBooth with two different printers or two different sets of printer settings. This can be useful for the following cases:

  1. Two Different Paper Sizes
    • Allow guests to choose from 2x6 or 4x6 prints and have printer only cut 2x6 prints.
    • Allow guests to choose from 4x6 or 6x8 prints (or any other sizes) and have dslrBooth print each specific paper size to a different printer.
  2. Alternate printing across two different printers for faster printing in very large events.

Two Different Size Prints

To allow guests to choose between different templates, open the template editor and choose the template drop down at the top. Click the STAR next to each template you want guests to choose from. Exit the template editor. Go to Settings > Display > Start Screen. Change the Template option to Allow Guests to Choose. Click Save.

In the template editor, you can set specific template(s) to print to the secondary printer (or same printer with different settings). This can be useful if you allow your guests to choose their own template where one is a 4×6 and another is 2×6. You can set the 2×6 strips to print to the secondary printer that is setup for cutting. This is also useful if you want to allow your guests to print different size prints where each printer would be setup with a different paper size. You can choose the secondary printer in Settings > Printing then go to Template Editor to set the template to print to the secondary printer.

Click on Template editor and choose the 2x6 template. On the left side of the screen, check the Print to Secondary Printer box. Exit the template editor.

In dslrBooth go to Settings > Printing. Choose your main printer by clicking on Configure Printer. Set the paper size for the template that will be sent to this printer (4x6 for example). Click Print to apply the settings.

For the Secondary Printer, click on Configure Printer. Note that the secondary printer set in dslrBooth can be the same as the primary printer but with different settings. Set the paper size for the template that will be sent to this printer (2x6 for example). Click Print to apply the settings. Click Save at the bottom of the settings page.

Alternate Printing Across Two Printers

You can setup two printers for use in large events where dslrBooth will alternate printing across the the main and secondary printers for faster prints. The first print will go to printer 1, the next one will go to printer 2, and so on.

In dslrBooth go to Settings > Printing. Choose your main printer by clicking on Configure Printer. Set the paper size for the template that will be sent to this printer. Click Print to apply the settings.

For the Secondary Printer, click on Configure Printer. Set the same paper size as the main printer. Click Print to apply the settings.

Check Print to Both Printers option.

I was waiting this update impatiently .... but 2 differents physical Printers are required to be able to print 2x6 and 4x6 in same event ?

.. or is it possible to have only 1 physical printer and simulate 2 printers in windows ? First set for 4x6 and second set for 2x6 ?

Hi, please see the recent updates to the article. You can print 4x6 and 2x6 to the same printer.

I have the same Problem. I'm using DNP620 and saved the 2nd Printer with the 2-cut option. The Testpage works fine and correctly, but if i choose my Template with activated second Printer option, the paper comes out as a 4x6inch paper...

cool option but not yet refined because: it looks like I have one dnp printer rx1 hs set in the program options on one 4x6 printer and on the second printer 2x6 in the test printer everything ok but during the session does not work every time once it works once It will not work.

awesome new feature. I've used it on an event and it works perfect!

The only thing that gives some problems (but this was in previous releases also the case) : selecting the template is not so smooth. Sometimes it takes it from the first touch, sometimes you need to touch the template multiple times until it gets selected.

And if it doesn't work from the first touch, people start like hitting the touchscreen instead of touching it :-(

It will be nice if we can print at the same time on both printers the same image also!

Everything works perfectly just one thing I miss in the whole software. By creating a template for 4 photos and then using it during the session, the camera takes a picture no. 1,2,3,4 and for example, the 3rd photo did not work out or you can repeat the same 3 photos. Now it's like a rebate, then you have to repeat the whole session so that you can repeat any photo.

I have a DNP-DS820 (for 8x10 prints) and a DS-RX1HS (for 4x6) and I have setup 2 templates (4x6 and 8x10 , both mark as favorites) and mark the print to secondary printer on the 8x10 template and I have the DNP-DS820 printer set as the secondary printer, and the Template setting is set to "Allow guests to choose templates from favorites", but now matter which template I choose it will only print to the main printer.

I have a huge event coming up. I have DNP DS620 and a RX1HS. The first one prints 400 photos out of one roll, the second one 700 photos. I don't need to print two photos or templates at once, but rather combine the two total prints of both printers, in order to provide lots of prints on an event.

Is it possible to set the software to first print to one printer and than switch to the next one? If the printer (driver) can't communicate to the software that a printer ran out of paper, maybe set a limit manually per printer? For example:

"Print to RX1HS until 650 photos (50 prints as a buffer), than switch to DS620 for the remaining prints."

If not possible, maybe include it in future updates.
