dslrBooth Hardware Requirements

Make sure your PC includes the following for best performance:

Processor

  • Quad Core Intel Core i5 9th generation 2.0 GHz with or higher highly recommended. 64 bit processor. More than 2 performance cores needed if processing video.
    or
  • Quad-core AMD Ryzen 5 or greater (2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™ or higher)

Memory (RAM)

  • 8 GB (dslrBooth will be able to run with 4 GB RAM. However, it is recommended to have 8 GB RAM because the software is optimized to take full advantage of multiple cores. These optimizations will run better with 8GB RAM)

Graphics card

  • NVIDIA® GPU released in 2016 or later with 4GB or greater is highly recommended.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 1650 or greater with at least 4 GB dedicated VRAM
  • AMD Radeon RX 560 or greater with at least 4 GB dedicated VRAM

Integrated graphics for the above processors will also work but will take a longer time to process AI background removal and will not have the best live view performance.

Operating System

Note: Intel i5 Surface Pros 7 and 7+ do not have internal fans. Due to this CPU throttling can occur and cause lag specially during live view. We recommend using a Windows tablet with internal fans instead for a better experience.

Not Supported:

  • AMD APU processors are problematic in working with high performance multi-threaded applications such as dslrBooth.
  • ARM and ARM64 processors such as those found on Microsoft Surface X (Microsoft SQ1/SQ2 processor).
  • Intel Atom, Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium and Intel Gold processors are budget processors and are too slow to keep up with the demands of processing high resolution photos from DSLR cameras.

If you have a slower PC, dslrBooth might work for you but it will slower. To get it to run a bit faster, lower your camera settings to the slowest image size and set your template to 300x300 dpi. This should speed up processing.

If you have issues with dslrBooth performance, please run the user benchmark app and email us a link to your results and we can review. We recommend a 2-Core score >= 200 and 4-Core score >= 350 for best performance.

What component are key for a good performance.
    Would 4x 1333 MHz with 2GB DDR3 be sufficient?

Lisa, we have many customers using windows 10 with no issues. It's likely a driver issue that will get resolved with windows 10 as it time goes by.

Philippe, that will be too slow. Please see specs above.

Hi, I bought dslrBooth when I had windows 8.1 and my computer upgraded to windows 10 and I cannot revert it. It seems to be running with windows 10 but I cannot change the template or settings, how can I fix this?

    Hi,
I have similar question as Rodrigo, will it work on Dell Inspiron 11z Touch?

    - INTEL CORE i3 4030U Haswell, 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4400. I just need to use basic photo feature (no greenscreen),graphics over photo and instant print through Wifi.

It says that Atom processors aren't supported but the Surface Pro 3 is. Is the Atom processor on the SP3 ok? I'm confused.

The Surface Pro 3 will work fine. Atom processor will be slower but it'll work.
